Papier-mâché
A traditional craft of Kashmir that involves creating decorative objects using paper pulp. This art form was introduced in the Valley by Persian artists in the 15th century during the reign of Sultan Zain-ul-Abidin. The technique involves ‘Sakhtasazi’ (making the paper pulp base) and ‘Naqashi’ (painting intricate floral and geometric designs).
