JAJEER
A traditional smoking device deeply embedded in the cultural and social life of the region, especially among rural communities and older generations. ‘Jajeer’ symbolizes hospitality, community bonding and age-old traditions that reflect the slower, more connected way of life in Kashmir. It is crafted using a wooden base, a clay bowl and a long flexible pipe, with water inside to cool and purify the smoke. Tobacco, often mixed with natural flavorings or molasses, is placed in the bowl and heated with coal.
